We offer IT Certification for Individual Consultants in the field of Information Security. This certification is designed to ensure that professionals providing IT services to government bodies in Uganda meet the necessary standards of quality, professionalism, and security.

Purpose:

• Regulate IT Services: Certification helps in regulating the IT consultancy services provided to government entities, ensuring they adhere to national IT laws, regulations, and standards.
• Promote Professionalism: It promotes a culture of professionalism and best practices among IT personnel, particularly in information security.

Certification Process:

• Eligibility: Individuals must possess formal qualifications or significant experience in Information Technology. They should demonstrate competence in areas related to information security.
• Application: Prospective consultants register via the NITA-U IT Certification Web portal (ITCO). After registration, they receive access to submit their application online.
• Assessment: NITA-U conducts an assessment which might include audits or inspections to verify the applicant's capabilities and compliance with set standards.
• Certification Levels: Individual consultants can aim for different levels of certification based on their expertise, experience, and the ability to meet international standards like ISO for information security management.
  • Level 1: Basic certification where individuals must demonstrate foundational IT knowledge and compliance with local standards.
  • Level 2: Requires fulfillment of Level 1 criteria plus demonstrated experience in delivering IT security-related services or projects.
  • Level 3: The highest level where consultants must show compliance with international standards, typically involving advanced knowledge of information security practices.
